Honestly, I agree with Wesley R on the ramen scene. The best ramen is in Mitsuwa's Santouka and it's a freaking CHAIN. IMO, most/all the other ramen shops aren't worth checking out because most of the people reviewing them haven't had decent ramen and give unreliable feedback on it (totally agreeing with blukats on this).

If you're free and want to eat non-ramen, I recommend checking out non-ramen places like Avec, Sun Wah BBQ, Honey 1 BBQ, Edzo's, Wiener and Still Champion, and Crisp.

Hope the rest of your stay is amazing!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559927128534150588.post-32797969728145256132012-11-16T10:49:46.791-05:002012-11-16T10:49:46.791-05:00thanks guys! gonna try and hit up aviary tonight. ...thanks guys! gonna try and hit up aviary tonight. if i have time sat i'll try and go to wasabi and yusho for lunch assuming prep goes smoothly today.Keizo Shimamotohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16021292533329876539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559927128534150588.post-2962139428540097232012-11-15T22:10:26.701-05:002012-11-15T22:10:26.701-05:00Even though it's a chain, the best ramen in th...Even though it's a chain, the best ramen in the Chicagoland area is easily Santouka. (However, it's in Arlington Heights)

http://www.mitsuwa.com/tenant/santouka/eindex.php?s=9

In the downtown area, an unexpected place for ramen is Ai Sushi. You can customize your bowl to include butter corn and extra chashu. They also have a Tonkotsu.

Cocoro does a decent bowl as well.

Aviary is supposedly doing a tonkotsu ramen right now, but I haven't tried it yet. Considering many learned from eating instant ramen it's not surprising a lot is lacking at many ramen restaurants here. I have hope though.

Congrats on all the promoting and the movie going well! Sounds like things are really good!blukatshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03682442878136967546noreply@blogger.com
