Tunnel vision...

Day 448:

After another visit with my doctor to cure my annoying shoulder pain, I had just enough time to grab a bowl from Goukai (らーめん屋 豪快).

For the first time I went with the thin noodle option and this is what I learned: Don't go with the thin noodle option. Haha. Although the ramen will still satisfy, the teuchi noodles taste more natural.

While walking to work, I found this secret tunnel. I guess not using a bike has some perks.

Konekuri Futomen.

Feel free to ask for it too.

Atsumi-kun came in for a bite to eat and after spending a few minutes talking to the assistant about wine, he brought us all a glass from next door.

He really came to see Shuga...too bad it was his day off. ahaha.

Take home Taishoken...

Day 447:

To make up for yesterday's disappointment, I woke up and ate an omiyage ramen from Eifukucho Taishoken.

Coincidentally, edjusted was doing the same. This was actually my first time trying the take home set. Surprisingly, it tastes almost the same as eating it at the shop...almost.

Back at basa, it was a relatively slow Sunday evening with some mix-men tsukemen.

Skinny and fat!

If you wanna try some too, just ask.

Ramen or fried chicken?

Day 446:

This may disappoint some of you, but as I stood in front of Eifukucho Taishoken I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. Just kidding it wasn't that hard, but difficult nonetheless.

Anyway, I took into consideration my surroundings and chose fried chicken. Believe me, there was a reason why.

But back at work I had to do it right with this Negi Daku Wadashi Soba sprinkled with Lawry's seasoning salt.

Haha see there's actually noodles underneath.

After spending the day not completely satisfied, I had to end it with a bowl of green curry.

Check out this haunted house. Can you see the spirit?

The assistant swears she can.

The mystery of T1...

Day 445:

The last time I went to Yajirushi (やじるし) I ordered the Cheese Wasabi Ramen and was very impressed. And although I don't like to go here because the owner is a douchebag (I don't think I've used that word since high school), my intended destination was closed.

The Shio Ramen here is good, but how is it with extra negi? Only slightly better. This Shio Negi Ramen has some type of dressing sprinkled on top of the negi but it doesn't change the flavor of the shio too much.

The noodles (still homemade) have apparently been changed to a slightly thicker and wavier type. I definitely like these better than the last.

Back at Bassanova I continued to experiment with some new flavors. I tried making this shoyu tonkotsu tsukemen and it came out tasting like roast beef. Kind of like dipping a french dip in au jus. Perhaps because I based the tare on the shoyu we use for our chashu. Anyway, I liked it.

Okay, so there's this weird mystery of people only falling asleep at the first table (T1, as we call it) in the seat nearest to our ticket machine. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I've never seen anyone fall asleep in any other seat. So if you ever feel like taking a nap at Bassanova, this is the seat to do it in. haha.

Macarons!

Thanks mum!

Fresh ideas...

Day 444:

So there's this bread shop. I'm not exactly sure where it is, but they have some really good sandwiches and pastries. If you must know where it is, you'll have to ask my assistant.

Anyway, we've been experimenting with new ideas for new menu items at Bassanova. This is a Tai dashi (sea bream) blended with our tonkotsu soup. It's a bit on the fishy side but it is very smooth and creamy.

Homemade gyoza! These were actually made by a friend of mine. Thanks!

It's always nice getting edible gifts. Especially in the form of Baum Kuchen.

I also experimented with a chicken soup and dashi blend that surprisingly tasted a lot like Okinawa Soba.

Why..thank you!

And thank you fans!
