Day 1253:
Surgical procedures are never exciting, but when you have a day ahead of you like this...
Lately I've been attending lots of meetings. It seems as though everyone wants to introduce me to someone they know that has something to do with ramen. It's pretty awesome.
What wasn't very awesome was this Hiyashi Italian Ramen from Due Italian (黄金の塩らぁ麺 due Italian市ヶ谷店) in Ichigaya.
Tomatoes galore.
On my way home I decided to calm my nerves and observe a legend.
Ahh the power of ET.
Love it!
At 1am my time, it was time to connect with the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum in Chicago.
For an event called Re-Thinking Soup--my first Q&A session via video conference.
What a success!!! Thanks to everyone who attended!!!
And a big shoutout to Sun Noodle, Lisa Lee, Chef Johnny Clark, and the rest of the Hull-House staff!! Great job!!!
いらっしゃいませ!

Shono mercy...
Day 1218:
With the night off, I decided to visit another friends ramen shop in Ichigaya.
Menya Shono (麺や 庄の), the original shop that has produced the likes of Gachi and Gotsubo, is run by the ever-imaginative and highly-skilled Shono-san.
Menya Shono is known for doing crazy specials on a frequent basis, but with this being my first time I just went with the Tokusei Ramen.
How good does that look?
The noodles are made in-house as you will notice when you walk through the front door.
The soup is pretty thick and a bit on the fishier side, but it gets the job done. Next time, I gotta try one of the crazy specials.
Cheese senbei? No it's not that cheese senbei.
Go Nabe!!
April 3rd. Korakuen Hall. See you there!
