Focus...

Day 1140:

Sometimes we often overlook the things that need to be focused...

Sometimes the out of focus can be more important than the in focus...

Gyokai Tonkotsu Ramen from Bonobo
Life needs to balance between the two.

Consistently.

And regularly.

With a few flaws here and there.

Thank you mister prez!

2013 will be the year...

Bonobo...

Day 1101:

Wow! That was fast! Nandenkanden the aftermath.

Last night I heard from Nobo that a new ramen shop in Umegaoka called Ramen Bonobo (ボノボ) was good. He's never been there, but because his name is in its name BoNobo he claims it has to be good. haha.

Well, he was right. This Shoyu Ramen was better than expected.

But it tasted a little too manufactured, if you know what I mean. Their more popular ramen is the Tonkotsu Gyokai with a special homemade XO sauce. I'll try it next time.

Anybody want a ramen burger?

With cheese?

Mayo Ramen friends...

Day 972:

If I can't have ET...

Then a shop born from ET is the next best thing.

Katsuya (勝や).

I couldn't let her leave without trying the cheese senbei. Good luck Jess!! Looking forward to slurping a bowl of your ramen soon!!!

These are ramen friends.

And these are mayo friends.

Not sure which taste better...haha.

Thick...

Day 664:

I forgot to tell you my NEW bike got taken yesterday. Yes taken, not stolen. After the lunch shift, I closed up shop and when I slid open the front door...my bike was gone. I first thought it was stolen...AGAIN. But after calling the bicycle hotline, my bike was at one of the bicycle yards. Apparently you can't park bikes in front of basa. Yes, I knew this, but this was the first time they actually took one of our bikes (and of course it had to be mine). Normally they come in and ask if the bikes parked outside are ours. Anyway, 3000yen poorer I now have my bike back (!@#$%es!!). Let's go get some Bushou (武将らーめん)!

"Oh. Wow!" That was exactly my reaction when they put this Tokusei Nokou Miso Ramen in front of me.

Wow!

The soup...thick. The chashu...thick. The noodles...thick. Everything about this bowl was...thick.

For once, I was craving something other than ramen for dinner. But after paying too much for this not-so-very-good hambaagu steak, I regret my decision.

I now know better...

The last day with Max...

Day 475:

The first time I ever visited Bassanova, Max was there. Even on repeated visits, Max was there. And when I first started working at Bassanova, Max was also there. For awhile, it was just me and Max. And although I never looked forward to my days with Max, it were those days that turned out to be the most memorable. Max, I know I gave you a hard time, but it was a pleasure working with you. 頑張ってね。

Enough about Max, let's move on. I always wondered what it would taste like to make 100% wadashi ramen without any tonkotsu. Hmm...okay so that's what it tastes like...

After work I decided to walk to Umegaoka and grab a bowl at Katsuya (勝や).

I had heard that it tastes just like ET and needed to see for myself.

Well, it's big! It tastes like ET but it's not quite ET.

I told you it's big.

One more day, then Okinawa!!
