Day 1299:
Jiraigen boss said I needed to try Kabe Taishoken (河辺大勝軒) so he took us there for lunch.
Ladies and gentlemen, KT.
If only...
I could duplicate this in the States.
Someday...
I will.
いらっしゃいませ!

Where dreams begin...
Day 1298:
To some, an old school shoyu ramen might seem too simple. But be careful because simple can often mean too complex to comprehend.
Chuuka Tokudai is the best that Ogikubo has to offer. And yes I'm saying that to Harukiya's face. haha.
Who knew chicken feet could taste so dreamy.
So good.
So much history.
Mutsuki (睦月) has been on my list for awhile and since I was already in Ogikubo I thought I'd get it out of the way.
Surprisingly, it was damn good.
And the noodles were extra chewy which was satisfying.
Very satisfying.
Off to Jiraigen boss' house!!
Now that was funny!
Baby loko misses my beard.
So what do you do when your mentor shows you his 20yo collection of ramen books and says feel free to borrow any of them?
I had to change my pants...twice.

Curry udon...
Day 1297:
I've been craving this curry udon Goriyaku (後利益) for weeks.
Yeah, sometimes it's good to change things up a bit.
Cheese senbei!!
And some things should never change.

Tokyo Disneyland...
Day 1296:
Happy 30th!!
Wait, there really is ramen at Tokyo Disneyland?? This sure is the happiest place on Earth!
Tantanmen.
Hiyashi Chuuka.
Surprisingly, both of these bowls were pretty good!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

One of the best...
Day 1295:
If you are looking for a bowl that will change your life, then look no further than Metoki (めとき) in Okubo.
A direct descendant of ET, Metoki is only open 5 days a week with a limit of 40 bowls per day. A shop like this is rare and won't be around for long.
I can't believe I never came here sooner.
Many say that this is how ET tasted in its early days when perfection was at its nearest.
I can only imagine what that was like.
But this bowl was definitely one of the best I've ever had.
A bowl like this shall never be forgotten...
