After a short nights rest I tried to go slurp a bowl at the most popular shop in Yukuhashi, Mendokoro Kanadaya (麺処 金田家). But they were closed due to an emergency at their home. Oh well.
So I went to go check out the local museum instead. It's too bad they weren't closed too. haha.
Anyway, Big Boss picked us up and took us to Rai Rai Ken (来々軒) in nearby Kanda. This shop has been around for years but the old man who used to run it recently retired and handed over the reigns to his younger counterpart.
Which may explain the funny cartoon on how a proper bowl should be slurped. It basically says this: (1) There's no kaedama so if you're hungry order the large size; (2) When your bowl arrives, start by sipping the soup; (3) Then slurp the noodles; (4) If you want to change the flavor of your soup, just add umeboshi.
Yup, free umeboshi!!
There's nothing like a bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen for breakfast.
Still a slightly thicker noodle compared to the south.
Surprisingly, the umeboshi made it taste a lot better. But maybe that's because I love umeboshi.
Mojiko!! Okay, so I heard that Mojiko was famous for a dish called Yaki-Curry. Well, it's basically curry, but baked in an oven. Oh and there's a layer of cheese on top that makes it like a sort of curry lasagna.
Located right across from the station was a restaurant called Bear Fruits, which is just one of 100 or so shops in Mojiko that serve this stuff.
Anyway, there's only one way for me to describe how good it was...for a moment it made me forget about ramen. lol.
Go Yaki-Curry!
