Yellow salt...

Day 759:

Two days in a row at the gym!!

On my way to Kushu yesterday I noticed a new shop had opened not too far away. So after another full workout, I decided to give Mendokoro Naruya (麺処なる家) and their Koku Shio[u] Soba (なる家コク旨黄ソバ) a try.

The first thing that came out after I ordered was this homemade rayu. They told me to add it to my ramen halfway through.

Aptly named after it's yellowish color, this udon/soba-dashi-converted-into-ramen was uniquely refreshing.

The soup was very fishy, but it blended as good as it could with the whole roasted garlic and spam-like chashu.

The noodles were probably the least impressive thing about this bowl. Definitely not Mikawaya!

As for the rayu? It did give the ramen a boost. I initially thought it was made from mentaiko, but the staff told me that it's base is sakuraebi. Interesting...

Anyway, I got a coupon for a free topping on my next visit. Anyone want it?
