Heatwave...

Day 286:

Today was hot. Record-breaking hot. I tried going to the gym, but it was closed. So what's the next best thing to do in weather this hot? Eat ramen of course! Goukai (らーめん屋 豪快) and its Tan Tan Men has recently been featured on TV and since I was in the Sasazuka area I thought I'd check it out.

As I entered, with sweat dripping profusely down my face, I realized I didn't have any money. Crap! Luckily there was a bank next door. The tan tan men wasn't great, but it was good. It's actually close to what I think a tan tan men should taste like. Mildly sweet with a touch of fiery spice.

For the noodles, you can choose from either teuchi (handmade) or hosomen (thin). I went with the teuchi, but somehow they didn't taste homemade. Oh well, they were still very slurpable.

Back at Bassanova, I decided to enhance our Tom Yum Soba with some kimchi.

Damn, now that was a good idea! If it were up to me, I'd add kimchi as a topping to our menu.

Not wanting to be outdone by Shuga, it was Komuro-san's turn to fire up some buta-kimchi. You gotta love a woman who can handle a wok. haha.

Mmm, doesn't that look good? (psss...don't tell her this, but I think Shuga's was better.) lol.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Bassanova will be closed for the next two days (8/17 & 8/18) for the Obon holiday. And if by chance you came in tonight and we were closed, please accept my apology as we had run out of soup.

Alright, time for some karaoke!!
