Day 425:
Happy new year!!
As I slurped my first bowl of 2011 I began to think: "HOW can I do EVERYTHING I want to DO this year?" Answer: I can't. That is, I can't do what I want to do by myself. BUT, who says I need to walk this road alone? What I lack in time and knowledge and skills and creativity and passion, surely there is someone out there that can complement these needs. So without further ado, I am pleading for your help. YOU have the skills I need and WE together can create a worldwide RAMEN BOOM. For ramen is definitely on the rise and you and I are at the helm.
My ideas are endless. From ramen books to ramen tv shows to worldwide ramen databases to ramen pda apps to ramen schools to ramen museums to ramen care packages to ramen tshirts...etcetera, etcetera. But between working 12 hour days and keeping this blog going, I rarely have the time to work on any of these. I realize you are very busy as well, but between you and I together we can speed up this ramen revolution and take it where we want it to go. Bottomline...I need your help and can't do this alone. It's not about the money. It's not about the fame. It's about the love we have for ramen and how we want to share this love with the world. This is our time. Seriously, let's do this! It's now or never.
As I mentioned before, I'm in the process of writing a photo/guide book and I've been fortunate enough to meet someone who has the skills to help me get it done. I've also met people that have expressed interest in helping me with my tv show idea. Hopefully, we'll be able to at least film a pilot in the coming months. That's what is amazing and wonderful about this blog. I get to meet so many people from different backgrounds with creative ideas and amazing skill sets who are willing to help me live my ramen dream. But I want this to be more than just my dream. I want it to be OUR dream. So are you in? Email me and let's share ideas and show the world what ramen really is!!
Thanks go out to my Uncle, Aunt, and cousins for having me over for dinner tonight. There's nothing like eating ozoni and osechi with family on new year's day. あけましておめでとうございます。今年もよろしくお願いします。
You know I'm down to help.

ReplyDeleteHi Keizo,
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog all the time~! And thanks for all the info you put on your blog.
I have a question/challenge for you: is it possible to make gluten-free noodles for ramen? I've recently been diagnosed with celiac, and I love ramen. I've often asked restaurants if they offer rice noodles instead of ramen noodles for their ramen, and some of them seem offended. What do you think? Can it be done?
Thanks D and thanks Calvin!
ReplyDelete@Jenny: It's possible but then it starts to go outside the realm of ramen. But of course, it can be done! Sorry to hear about the celiac. Take care!
keizo, i'm not sure how i can help. I live in NJ but count me in.

Thanks Keizo. I just hoped ramen restaurants would offer some kind of rice noodles or gluten free noodles for us poor celiacs. I have the greatest respect for chefs making the noodles (I know it's tough to make it right.) I don't want to stop eating ramen noodle soups just because I have celiac. That's where that request came from. Thanks for listening :-)
ReplyDelete@Jenny
ReplyDeleteGo for Chiu Chow Noodles w/Rice Noodles. :D

Hi! I just found your blog. I'm currently in Okinawa, by way of San Francisco, by way of Honolulu (originally), and I am a ramen FIEND and now a loyal follower of yours. I wish Okinawa had more going for itself in terms of ramen, in which case I'd totally offer to be your spokesperson, but I guess you know all about our Okinawa Soba pride... ah well, to each his/her own. I'm also moving to LA later this year, so I'm really looking forward to that ramen shop of yours :). Keep slurping!
ReplyDelete@katecoloredglasses: Yo! I'm going to okinawa tomorrow. where abouts do u live? let's grab a bowl of soba!
ReplyDeleteFantastic blog! I'm with you all the way!
ReplyDeleteJust been asked by a friend how to make kogashi ramen. What is this??
Kanpai.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI am from Kyushu and like Tonkotsu Ramen very much. But, recently my taste changed and like less fat ramen. I also like ramen shops who make noodle by themselves. There are many skillful "Men Shokunins" --- usually men actually. I believe you will like the Tsukemen served cold in special tomato sauce with "smoked Chashuu" at "麺工房 山久"(Menkobo Yamakyu) near Honkomagome (Nanboku line) and Hakusan (Mita-line). I love Its GYOUZA with dough of 20% cornflour. It tastes like tortilla in flavor. I hope you will enjoy the creative Ramen in a hidden shops. --- Charumera
