Has it hit me?

Day 37:

I don't know. I've been living in Tokyo for 37 days now and I'm still not sure if it's hit me. Perhaps I've been working so much that I haven't even had a chance for it to do so. Or perhaps I'm just on a long vacation. Regardless, I'm having the time of my life. Ivan said some great things to me today. He really praised my work ethic and my ability to learn things quickly. Even my coworkers have told me how surprised they are for picking things up so fast. Anyway, I say it's cuz I have great teachers. I know I've said this many times before, but I'm really blessed to have this opportunity and to be able to live out my dream.

Also, a huge thanks goes out to my family and friends and readers of this measly blog. Most importantly, thanks bro for letting me stay at your pad! Until tomorrow. Goodnight!

  1. Not a measly blog ~ most definitely not.

Been following you since you showed up in Nihon (I think an article in OC Weekly or Register tipped me to your blog).

Your whole approach to life and ramen is so on-target in terms of life values...

When you get some time, head up to Gunma via the Shinkansen, and wander up into the hills. Inquire about the Mizusawa udon. Superb noodles, I tell you.

  3. I'm so jealous that you are getting to learn all about the process of making Ramen! My husband and I dream of learning how and have a pipe dream of owning a Ramen shop! A year of eating Ramen in Japan has left us with major withdrawals since we got back to the states! I would love to have a book in English that had great Ramen recipes! Anybody know of any?!!!???

  4. Unfortunately, there are none in english that I know of unless it deals with instant ramen and we all know that that is not real ramen. Good luck with your dreams! Maybe our paths will cross someday!
