Ivan will be visiting his parents in the U.S. for the next two weeks so my coworkers and I will be holdin' down the fort! I tried explaining what that meant to my coworkers and after what felt like a 20-minute game of charades, I think they finally got it. Haha.
Not only were we minus Ivan tonight, we were also minus one other coworker so there were just three of us actually holdin' down the fort. Monday's are usually one of our slower days of the week, but of course since it was just three of us it was unusually busy. We managed to serve just under a hundred people today, which was great for a Monday. And we survived. Day one of holdin' down the fort was a success!
Oh yeah, a lady asked me where Ivan was on her way out. Apparently, the way I said "on vacation" gave me away as being a foreigner so then she asked me if I was Japanese. I told her I was Nikkei and then she said "Oh, is that why you were speaking to Ivan in English before?" I guess she is a regular.
