I ♥ JAPAN...

Day 1081:

The day began in the pouring rain.

But I was already feeling lucky.

Boom is alive!!

After a couple more hours of tasting...

We had our festival bowl.

Back to Manhattan!!

After checking into our hotel in Midtown, I realized that Hide-Chan Ramen was right down the street. So of course I had to stop by. Even if it meant being late to the FoodFilmFest.

Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen.

Hakata Kuro Ramen.

Finally!

A satisfying bowl...

I ♥ JAPAN!!!

Now this...is gonna be a crazy night!

Part of the team.

The line outside.

Bottlecaps.

Takoyaki from Otafuku!

Sold out!!

And now...

Ramen Dreams!!!

Nervous.

So nervous.

All of the films tonight were great. It's great to see everyone's passion for food and for life.

But while Chefs Michael Romano, Tadashi Ono, Francois Payard, Craig Koketsu, and Bill Telepan cooked amazing food outside...

Inside was reserved for ramen.

Serving ramen...

In a movie theater.

This has got to be a first.

I'd like to thank everyone for being patient and showing us so much love.

And thanks for making this such an awesome event.

We couldn't have done it without you.

I'm really at a loss for words. This night was amazing. A dream of all dreams.

And a special thanks to Seth and George and the rest of the festival staff. And a giant thanks to everyone (friends, family, fans) who came to see us tonight.

I hope you enjoyed it. Because I will never ever forget this night.

Ever! Thank you!!!

  1. I just checked the films to be shown at the Chicago Food Film Festival.
The organizers seem to have decided that Chicago is not as interested in ramen as New York or Los Angeles.
