Staying local for the night, I decided to hit up a shop that I'm surprised I never hit up before. Botan (博多長浜らーめん ぼたん笹塚店) in Sasazuka is yes, a mini-chain, but rumor has it that the master here trained at Tanaka Shoten.
Although I make one everyday, tonkotsu ramen is not really my strong suit. Meaning, I'm more of a shoyu guy and have only ever experienced true tonkotsu ramen from a few days in Kyushu back in 2009.
But I think I know a good bowl when I meet one.
And THIS was a pretty damn good bowl.
It even deserved a kaedama and how many times have you seen me do that? (hint: NEVER!)
