Bassayonara...

Day 503:

After being rudely awakened earlier than expected, I was off to run some errands before work. I tried to go see gramps, but his shop was closed. So instead I headed to Ryo Tan Tei for some Wontonmen.

I love them them juicy wontons.

But I can't say the same about their gyoza.

Limited quantities of bottled water have started to reappear in convenience stores, but vending machines are still mostly sold out.

The mild rain could have played a little role, but the streets of Harajuku on this holiday were still quite empty.

Cafe de FOB? No comment.

Having finished all my errands, it was time for my last day of work at Bassanova. It's still hard to believe I'm leaving. Anyway, time for some Tom Yum Soba.

A news crew from the Philippines stopped by after reading about us in the NY Times. They had just returned from Sendai and were craving a good bowl of fusion ramen. They came to the right place.

And of course, I couldn't end this day without a bowl of green curry.

No Shuga, I might be quitting but I refuse to let you change our uniforms. haha.

Thank you Bassanova.

Shuga and the rest of the guys showed up, closed shop early, and gave me a surprise going away party. Gotta love them.

We ate, we drank, we reminisced, we laughed, and we laughed some more.

We miss you Boom!

It didn't really feel like my last day. But I'll remember this day for years to come. Thanks to all of you for making it so memorable.

Forgive me for leaving early, but I still need to pack. Vous voyez en France!

  3. Wow, my heart sank after reading this post. Hopefully this won't be then end of the ramen dream. I got to experience the green curry ramen thanks to you and I hope to have a bowl with you someday and share a common love of ramen. Best of luck Keizo!

  4. Hi there. Glad to hear you and your GF are well. I'm down the road from you (again) this time in France. As always loving Europe though am a bit surprised at lack of coverage of the situation in Japan. Wishing you all well. TK.
